Restoring Dignity
— Renee Heemskerk

...the building of a centre for HIV-positive children is a beautiful example of how God brings unity to brokenness.

In India, children who are HIV-positive face isolation and abandonment. Families believe that these children are cursed and cast them out of their homes, while doctors do not want to waste medicines on them. They are left homeless, without care or medical attention. Partners International saw the need to help these children and their community and built a centre to care for them. The children now have the care and love that they need. The centre is a tangible expression to the community of how valuable these children are. They have been given the dignity they deserve.

Renee Heemskerk [BA Business Administration – International Development 2015] worked to make this centre a reality. As a Project Administrator, Renee visited India, assessed the situation and fulfilled that need. She loves to bring people and their resources together to make a difference across the globe. For her, the building of a centre for HIV-positive children is a beautiful example of how God brings unity to brokenness.
